Services For Birth Parents
New Life understands that a pregnancy changes your life from
the very moment you learn you are having a baby. Regardless of
your age, whether you are married or unmarried, an unplanned
pregnancy can cause fear, confusion and worry. You can be assured
that it does not have to be that way, New Life is here to
help you consider the choices and options available for
you and your baby.
The answer to your dilemma could be a loving alternative - adoption.
Naturally you want your baby to have the very best chance to
be happy, secure and loved. What are your options? How does adoption
work? There are many questions to answer before you make this
most important decision for yourself and your baby. Before you
make this decision, we suggest you sit down and discuss your
situation calmly and thoroughly with someone who cares, someone
who can answer your questions and someone who will be supportive.
Everyone at New Life is fully committed to helping you. Our
professional staff will guide you through all of the options
open to you. If you choose adoption, we will help you every step
of the way, right through to the placement of your child with
the adoptive parents whom you will choose.
YOUR DECISION
You will never be pressured into making a decision. The choice
you make has to be yours and we will respect your right to
choose what you feel is best for you and your baby.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Your right to privacy and confidentiality is assured and maintained
at all times.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Our Services are free to birth parents. If you need housing,
food or transportation, we can refer you to organizations in
the community that will be able to help you immediately.
COUNSELING
You may want to have individual and personal consultations
with a social worker or therapist who will available to you and
offer caring support for your unique situation.
MEDICAL CARE
The well-being of you and your baby is our primary concern. If
you need us to, we will assist you with finding a qualified
medical doctor.
PLACEMENT PLANNING
You will ultimately choose the adoptive family. You will share
in the adoptive family selection process, as well as letting
us know if you wish to have contact with the adoptive parents
after the adoption. Your preferences and decision will be honored.
We do not exclude the biological father's involvement in this
matter and welcome his participation in the planning.
Every family at New Life waiting to adopt have
completed a thorough screening and evaluation process to prepare
them to become adoptive parents. They have met the state’s
requirements to become adoptive parents, received education about
adopting and have been stridently reviewed by the agency.
You can be confident that your baby will have a safe, nurturing
and loving home; the family you select from New Life’s
waiting families will be able to provide the baby with a
life time of opportunities.
POST-ADOPTION
We will make your desires known to the adoptive parents as far
as any future contact you would like to have occur after the
adoption (i.e.: pictures and a letter once a year, to be kept
at our office for you to review when you are ready). We will
provide you with information regarding the New York State Adoption
Information Registry in order for you and your child to become
reunited when the child turns 18, if you and the child so choose.
